Supplies Needed To Make This Mardi Gras Mask Wreath

Here’s what you’ll need to make this sparkly and wonderfully over-the-top Mardi Gras wreath.

How To Make A Festive Mardi Gras Wreath With Mesh And A Mask

Follow the steps in this wreath tutorial and you’ll have your wreath ready in just minutes!

Step 1

Grab your mesh wreath base and straighten out the pipe cleaners to prepare them for adding mesh.

Step 2

Next, take your strips of mesh, and let’s add them to your wreath base.

One at a time, loosely roll each strip up into a tube. Pinch it about 5 inches from the end and tie it into one of the pipe cleaners on the wreath base. Repeat the process with the other end of the tube, tying it into the adjacent pipe cleaner.

Make your way around your wreath base, alternating mesh colors as you make your way around.

NOTE: You’ll add 1 pouf at a time around the bottom of your wreath, and the pouf ends will overlap in the pipe cleaners. When you do the top layer, you’ll go around twice to fill in any gaps.

Step 3

Now, it’s time to prepare the Mardi Gras mask!

Cut off any elastic strips and remove any tags. Add a dab of superglue on the inside edge of the mask, with one dab at the top, bottom, and on each side. Place a mounting square over each dab of glue.

Insert a pipe cleaner into each mounting square and secure them in place. Set aside to dry for a moment.

Step 4

When dry, put the mask right in the center of your wreath, covering the hole. Send the pipe cleaners through to the back and tie them around the wreath frame.

Step 5

Take your ribbons and ribbon tailboard and make ribbon tails. You’ll need 18 strips of each color.

Dovetail the ends.

Step 6

Make a stack of ribbon tails using all of your ribbons. Pinch them together in the middle and add one set (stack) to each pipe cleaner, making your way around your wreath base.

Step 7

Fluff your ribbon tails out. Make sure that your poufs look the way you want them and your mask is positioned the way you want it.

And there you have it! That’s how to make a mardi gras wreath with a mask. No bows. No beads. Just a Mardi Gras mask, some deco mesh, and some ribbon tails are all you need to make a terrific Mardi Gras mesh wreath!

How To Make A Mardi Gras Wreath: Final Thoughts

I love how amazing this wreath is – without the time it takes to add bows. Although I love making bows, it’s fun to use different ways of highlighting wreath materials without always relying on bows for visual appeal.
