This red foam flocked deer is fabulous, but needs some surgery to work for our wreath. Grab your BBQ skewer, zip ties, and hot glue gun. Place a BBQ skewer onto the back of his hind leg and zip tie in place at the base of his ankle. It will be hidden once poked into the wreath. Run some glue on the skewer, lifting it up just a little bit so it has room to adhere to the deer
When dry, insert your skewer down inside the center of your foam wreath so your deer stands up strong, fierce, fabulous, and as if he is walking out of the wreath. Add a little more hot glue under his hoof. Add a second skewer to his other back leg, poking into the foam wreath first. Then zip tie at the base of his other ankle and hot glue. This makes him a little more secure. All of the “guts” of this will be hidden so no need to worry about it being seen. If your skewer pokes out of the bottom, just trim excess.
Let’s get started on our bow. Beginning with your Red jelly amd silver tinsel 1.5” ribbon, pull out your first tail about the length you like. I do not measure, so just eyeball it. Pinch the ribbon, creating your first loop, and pinch again. Twist to create your next loop. You will need to twist to make sure your silver tinsel is facing outward so it is seen since it is not a double sided ribbon. Cut from the spool, but maintaining a firm grip of your first layer of your bow.
Grab your white and baby pink ribbon to create your next layer of loops. Repeat the steps of pulling out a tail length, pinch it, loop it, and twist so you will create 2 more loops that are slightly bigger than your first layer.
Make another layer of 2 loops, matching the length of your pink and white loops with your red and white striped ribbon. You will now have a total of 6 loops made from three different ribbons. Don’t forget to pinch and twist your tails so the designs are facing outward.
Next grab the thicker, 2.5” Red and White Rick Rack Ribbon. Make your next layer of bigger loops for your bow. All of this is still held tight in your 1 hand. Remember to pinch it, loop it, and twist it, to make your next set of loops. Totaling 8 loops in all for this bow so far.
Last but not least, grab the 4” black, white, and silver designer ribbon. This bow will be full of lots of colors, patterns, and textures. Which makes the wreath even more glamorous. Remember to keep with the same pattern of 2 loops and 2 tails. 10 total loops now.
To secure the bow, with a zip tie in center. Position your loops and tails so they are in place. Keep your tails going down so they are not interfering with your deer on wreath. Play with placement of all of your ribbons and tails. Trim excess zip tie.
You secure your bow to wreath, grab your red and white striped ribbon and run some right under your deer on wreath. Keeping some length to tie bow on in a bit. Bring your bow over and position it so it rests under your deer. Simply tie that ribbon right over the center of the bow. The ribbon will hide the zip ties and guts, along with creating an extra set of tails for the bow.
Determine if you want to roll your ribbon tails or dovetail them. They are all different lengths so just have fun with it. You could stop here and it would still be wonderful. But if you like bigger and better, let’s move on.
Take your greenery with red holly berries and pine cones. Cut into 3 sections so you have more to work with. Work one piece at a time poking in under the bow under your zip tie to secure in place. Hot glue as well. Bring greenery forward by gluing in the center of your bow. Reposition your tails and loops to hide your hot glue
Grab your white foam snowflake stem and trim into sections to create snowflake picks. Glue pieces into your bow as you carefully position in between the loops and tails popping out in all directions.
With your marshmallow stem, cut it into multiple little picks. Work several pieces in and around your bow. Remember to hot glue so they hold strong in your wreath.
To finish up this project, take a step back and look over your creation. Fill in any gaps where you see fit. Fluff, poof, and carefully remove glitter from your hands as you decide where you will place this fabulousness in your home. And you know it looks fabulous!
