Step by Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Cow Door Hanger
Start by laying your cow door hanger on a flat surface. Decide where you want the florals and bow placement before attaching anything. This helps keep the design balanced and visually appealing.
2. Build the Floral Cluster
Group the pink magnolia, pink wispy spray, and mint ficus together. Layer the larger magnolia first, then tuck in the wispy spray and ficus for texture and movement.
Secure the stems together using a zip tie or staple them to the back of the door hanger, depending on the hanger style.
3. Make the Bow
Using the 2.5 inch polka dot ribbon and the 2.5 inch plaid ribbon, create a full bow. Melissa keeps the bow simple but bold so it complements the cow shape without overpowering it.
Secure the bow with a zip tie.
4. Attach the Bow and Florals
Attach the bow directly over the floral stems so everything feels connected. Use staples or zip ties on the back of the door hanger to secure the bow firmly in place.
Adjust ribbon loops and tails so they flow naturally with the florals.
5. Add the Rope Hanger
Cut a piece of rope to your desired length and staple it securely to the back of the cow door hanger. Make sure it is centered so the piece hangs evenly on the door.
Design Tips from Melissa
- Keep the florals off to one side to let the cow shape remain the focal point.
- Mix soft colors like pink and mint to balance the playful theme.
- Use wired ribbon so the bow holds its shape outdoors.
- This design works well for spring, farmhouse decor, and themed craft shows.
