Hello, creative friends! Today, I’m excited to share my favorite everyday grapevine wreath tutorial with you.

This simple yet stunning design is what I call my “7-Minute Multiple”, and I use it in my shop at least two or three times a week. It’s versatile, budget-friendly, and perfect for any season—whether it’s fall, spring, or just a year-round look. Let’s jump in and get started!

Why this Everyday Grapevine Wreath is a Game-Changer

  • Quick: You can make it in under 10 minutes (give or take a few depending on embellishments).
  • Affordable: Costs around $15–$20 to create.
  • Versatile: Works for multiple seasons depending on the greenery and ribbon you choose.
  • Scalable: Perfect for bulk crafting during busy seasons like fall or Christmas.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Grapevine Base: 14-inch or 16-inch oval grapevine (Coach Tammy’s favorite!).
  2. Greenery Picks: Variegated ferns, flat-seeded ferns, eucalyptus, and other coordinating foliage.
  3. Ribbon: 2.5-inch and 1.5-inch wired ribbon. Consider textures like embossed or jute windowpane for a unique look.
  4. Tools: Zip ties, floral wire, glue gun, and wire cutters.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Prep Your Greenery

  • Select your greenery picks. For today’s design, I used a mix of variegated ferns and flat-seeded ferns with light orange blooms. This combination works for fall and spring.
  • Trim down the stems to about 4–6 inches. You don’t need the full length, but leave enough to secure them into the grapevine.
  • Fluff and fan out your greenery to restore their natural shape. Shipping and storage can flatten them, so this step is key to achieving a professional look.

Step 2: Create Your Foundation

  • Lay the two largest greenery picks next to each other, forming a soft “V” shape.
  • Secure the greenery to the grapevine base using zip ties. Place the stems through the “guts” of the grapevine (the inside layers) to keep them stable and prevent sliding.
  • Adjust the greenery to follow the curve of the grapevine. Use your fingers to gently bend and fan out the pieces for a natural flow.

Step 3: Add Depth and Texture

  • Incorporate smaller filler pieces like eucalyptus or additional ferns to add depth.
  • Pay attention to any bare spots—fill them in with additional greenery or mossy accents.
  • Pro Tip: Use algebra-style balance—what you add to one side, mirror on the other to create a cohesive design.

Step 4: Create a Big Juicy Bow

  • Use a combination of ribbons to craft a show-stopping bow:
    • Cut 8–10 loops at about 8 inches each for your primary ribbon.
    • Add a secondary ribbon with 6 loops at 7.5 inches.
    • Finish with a decorative accent ribbon like jute windowpane for texture.
  • Secure the bow with a zip tie and attach it to the wreath.

Step 5: Hide the Mechanics

  • Cover exposed stems and zip ties with small greenery pieces. Glue these in place to ensure a seamless, polished look.
  • Pro Tip: Treat exposed stems like visible mechanics—they need to be hidden! Think of it like hiding the “underwear” of your wreath (nobody needs to see that).

Step 6: Optional Embellishments

  • Add small baubles, berries, or ornaments for a pop of color or to match a seasonal theme.
  • Consider elongating the design by adding longer stems to create more movement and flow.

Coach Tammy’s Pro Tips

  1. Layer with intention: Use different textures and shades of greenery to keep the design dynamic.
  2. Work with wired stems: Wired stems allow for easy adjustments and better control over the final look.
  3. Customize for seasons: Swap out the ribbon and accents to make this wreath fit any season or holiday.
