Happy fall y’all! Today I’m showing you how to make a raffia scarecrow wreath. This wreath has an adorable scarecrow sign, some fun ribbons, and some beautiful flowers. Y’all are going to love it!

I had such a good time making this raffia scarecrow wreath. It is so fun and has a great layered and textured look! Since fall is synonymous with harvest, it gives us so many opportunities to use natural elements. I incorporated several natural items in this wreath and I really love the way it turned out. Watch the video below to see how I made this fabulous wreath and learn how to make one of your own!

In the video below, you will see the colors of flowers that I chose to use. You don’t have to use the same shades that I picked though! Pick florals that match your sign and your ribbons and you will end up with a beautiful fall creation. Remember that you can incorporate any type of greenery, flowers, or harvest items that you want. What I am showing you here is simply a technique that you can take and make your own. That’s the beauty of crafting y’all, we can all use the same method but produce different beautiful creations!

This video is more than just a wreath tutorial y’all. We chat about a lot of other things while I craft. One of the things that we touched on quite a bit was your business questions. There is a lot going on in this wreath so some of you were wondering how I keep track of my supply costs. I’ve been doing this for awhile now so I can mostly do it from memory. But, it hasn’t always been that way and I share the tricks that I used when I was first starting out. If you want to know more about this, check out my post on how to calculate the cost of your craft supplies.

Another thing we talked about was selling your wreath creations on Etsy. I don’t know if y’all know yet but we have a podcast now called Makers Mean Business. In the podcast we talk with other craftpreneurs and share information on how to start and run your own creative business. One of our recent episodes covered how to sell on Etsy so if this is a topic you’re interested in be sure to check that out! Okay, now on to today’s project. Let’s make a raffia scarecrow wreath!

Raffia Scarecrow Grapevine Wreath

How to make a raffia scarecrow grapevine wreath
Yield: 1 Wreath

Instructions

  • Take your mounting squares and remove the backing. Then super glue to your metal sign (two on one side and one on the other). Use your glue gun to go all around the edges like caulk.
  • Attach a pipe cleaner to each mounting square and use them to attach your sign to the grapevine.
  • Attach your raffia bow as close to the outside of the grapevine as possible so that it doesn't cover the sign.
  • Trim your raffia so it isn't too long. You want it to look a little messy but not too much. Now dovetail your ribbon tails.
  • Take your greenery stems and trim them into smaller pieces. Use a glue gun to attach the greenery building up, out, and down. Make the greenery stand out farther than the bow.
  • Attach one baby bow above your top most greenery and one below your bottom most greenery.
  • Trim your dark blue flowers and add them evenly to the grapevine.
  • Repeat with the bright orange flowers making them stick out longer than everything else.
  • Now trim and add the light blue flowers.
  • Next, trim and add your pumpkin stems.
  • Finally trim and attach your fall leaves.

As you can see, this fall wreath has so much dimension and texture to it. With a little variety of natural decor items you can make something truly spectacular. Have fun with this method and don’t be afraid to try some new color and floral combinations. Happy crafting and happy fall y’all!
