In this tutorial, we’re focusing on turning a simple everyday garland into a Valentine’s Day showstopper. With just a few additions, you can jazz it up for any holiday, whether it’s Valentine’s, Easter, or even patriotic celebrations. Let’s get started!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Garland Base: Everyday garland with burlap, greenery, and black-and-white accents.
- Ribbons:
- 1.5-inch red-and-white striped ribbon with hearts.
- 1.5-inch red glitter ribbon.
- Picks:
- Red velvet ball picks (or Christmas picks repurposed).
- Optional: Red florals, leftover holiday ornaments, or glitter picks.
- Zip Ties or Pipe Cleaners: For securing decorations.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Add Pops of Red with Picks
- Choose 2-3 red picks to add color and texture to your garland.
- Spread the picks out for a fuller look and place them strategically:
- One toward each end.
- One in the center.
- If you want these to be more secure, use zip ties or pipe cleaners to attach them to the garland’s greenery or evergreen stems.
Pro Tip: Don’t glue your elements if you want the flexibility to swap them out for different seasons!
2. Incorporate Ribbon
Ribbons add softness and a cohesive Valentine’s vibe. Here’s how:
- Create Ribbon Loops:
- Take your red glitter ribbon and create large, loose loops.
- Attach the loops to the greenery stems with zip ties, following the natural lines of the garland.
