How to Add Glitter Accents to Your Wreath Sign

Adding Glitter to Wreath Attachments

Coach Dereka likes to add glitter for a fun and festive touch. While she doesn’t have anything against using Mod Podge, she found that it just made everything look kind of flat. So, if you’re looking to add some extra sparkle and pizzazz, she recommends using polyurethane clear coat as the best choice.

How to Add Glitter to Your Wreath Sign

First, apply a polyurethane thick layer where you want the glitter. Use a paintbrush to paint on.

Pick which glitter you want. There are many different types. You can choose from flakes, sand, or medium. No limitation to what type of glitter you use.

Next, pour glitter on your painted line. Put a generous amount of glitter all the way along. Don’t be afraid to cake it on there. You will save this glitter so don’t be scared. Give your board a tap to move the glitter around so it gets in all the places.

Once all dried shake off your excess glitter and save it and pour it back into the bottle. Don’t waste your glitter.

Optional step, but highly recommend: Use polyurethane clear spray to seal the glitter, so that it doesn’t flake off easily and it’ll make your glitter accents last longer.

How to Add Glitter to a Wood Door Hanger

Hey y’all. So I also get questions about how to add glitter to a door hanger. So, I figured I would just show you guys real quick. This tutorial applies to regular wood door hangers. I know it seems super complicated, I know, but you got this.

So first things first. We’re gonna grab ourselves some rustoleum 2x ultra cover clear and spray it down. Get it good and sticky.

Use extra fine glitter and sprinkle a little bit over the top.

Y’all then I’m gonna put a little bit extra right over the top. You know, like whenever you set your hair with your hairspray, that’s all we’re doing.

Allow it to completely dry. Then give it another clear coat 24-hours later. Allow to dry and you’ll see how we get that sparkle.

  • Mod Podge
  • Glitter sealant spray (typically for fabrics only)
