What materials do I need for a summer flower wreath?

You’ll need:

  • A Unique in the Creek (UITC) board
  • Poly burlap mesh, ideally 10 inches wide
  • A wood burner for cutting the mesh (trust me, it helps with fraying)
  • Zip ties to secure the mesh to the board
  • A tempered glass cutting board to protect your surfaces

FAQs About Making a Mesh Flower Wreath

How do I cut the mesh?

I cut the mesh into 10-inch squares using a wood burner. This method melts the edges slightly, which prevents the mesh from fraying. Make sure to do this on a tempered glass board to avoid damage to your other surfaces.

How many pieces of mesh will I need? For the flower wreath I made:

  • 16 pieces for the outermost layer
  • 8 pieces for the middle layer
  • Another 8 pieces for the inner layer
  • And I actually doubled up on the very center with 8 more pieces to make it full and lush.

How do I attach the mesh to the UITC board?

Attach each piece of mesh using zip ties. I recommend preloading the zip ties into the board, which means inserting them halfway before you start, so they’re ready to go. This saves time and makes the process smoother.

Do I need to do anything special when attaching the mesh?

Yes, when you attach the mesh, make sure you’re gentle but secure. The goal is to preserve the frayed edges from further damage and ensure each piece is attached firmly so the wreath maintains its shape and fullness.
