How to Make a Summer Watermelon Wreath
Step 1: Prep the Base
Fluff and shape your 24” evergreen base. This helps create room to attach your mesh and adds dimension right from the start.
Step 2: Add Deco Mesh Poofs
Use all three mesh rolls to create 10-12 inch poofs around the wreath. Alternate between the red, pink border stripe, and lime green for visual interest. Layer them in using the ties on your evergreen base to secure them tightly.
Step 3: Cut & Add Ribbon Tails
Cut ribbon tails into 13″ strips, dovetail the ends, and mix your patterns to create fun combinations. Layer a 2.5″ and a 7/8″ ribbon tail together, then pinch in the center and twist into the ties across the wreath.
Step 4: Add the Sign
Attach your watermelon-themed welcome sign slightly angled using floral wire or pipe cleaners. Make sure it’s snug and secure.
Step 5: Insert Focal Accent
Use hot glue and floral wire to attach the large foam watermelon slice. Position it diagonally for extra fun and balance.
Step 6: Add Florals and Greenery
Start with your larger florals like the geraniums and sunflowers. Tuck them in evenly across the wreath. Then add smaller fillers like baby’s breath, smilax greenery, and lime curl sprays to fill any gaps and soften the design.
Step 7: Finish with a Bow (Optional)
Create a simple bow using a mix of your featured ribbons and place it at the bottom or side of the wreath to add a final pop.
Design Tips
- Layer different textures of mesh to give your wreath depth and volume.
- Use floral wire to keep heavier elements, like signs, from sagging in summer heat.
- Keep your ribbon loops uniform for a clean, professional look.
