MMB Episode 30: Developing Business Relationships

Roberto is a friend of ours, and he’s spent years building business relationships through networking. Over time, he’s really studied and learned how to do it very well.

When Damon and I sat down and started coming up with ideas for podcast episodes, we started talking about just how important networking has been for our business success.

As Roberto discusses, everyone needs relationships to succeed in business. It might be building your own community, building a network for affiliates or sponsors. Whatever it is, it’s essential to build those authentic relationships around you or your business won’t ever be as successful as you want it to be.

There are multitudes of people around you, and whether you realize it or not, you’re building relationships with them all the time – either intentionally or unintentionally.

Simply building those relationships – not from a “What can I get from this person?” standpoint, but from a “How can I serve this person?” standpoint is crucial for success.

Finding Opportunities Within Business Relationships

As you network, sometimes you will make relationships that are good and offer amazing opportunities. Other times, you’ll make relationships that are bad and seem to take away opportunities. However, even in those relationships, you can find opportunities.

Have you ever heard the story about Walt Disney and Mortimer the Mouse? It’s in the episode 🙂

According to Roberto, you need to be asking yourself a few important questions when it comes to your business relationships. A couple of them are:

  • What do you bring to the table?
  • What do you hope to get from the table? It’s not just about making sales, it’s about finding more people you can serve, and also about making connections with people who can serve you.

That’s it for our highlights of Episode 30! We don’t want to spoil the episode for you by giving away all the juicy goodness. If you want to grow your business with the help of authentic relationships, you won’t want to miss this episode!
