Hey, y’all! Summer will be here before you know it, and it’s time to start preparing your festive patriotic red, white, and blue wreath.
If you want to add a little spirit to your patriotic celebrations this year, why not start at the front door? Y’all know I’m a sucker for decorating my home to celebrate pretty much any holiday under the sun, and the Fourth of July is no exception.
Today, I have a very festive and patriotic wreath that’s practically bursting with mesh poufs and ribbons! It will add that perfect touch of red, white, and blue to your front door.
A Very Patriotic Red, White, and Blue Wreath
There really aren’t any other color options for this red, white, and blue wreath. I mean, you could try some, but it wouldn’t have that U.S. of A. flare.
Supplies Needed To Make This 4th of July Wreath
Here’s what you’ll need to make this beautiful wreath.
- 1 wreath form
- 1 roll 21″ deco mesh
- 2 2.5″ wired ribbon
- 1 1.5 wired ribbon
- 1 sign/attachment
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- Pro Bow- The Hand Bow Maker
- Floral wire
- Wire cutters
- Ribbon tailboard
- Rapid fuse glue
- Zip tie mounts
Red, White, Blue Wreath Video Tutorial

How To Make this Red, White, and Blue Wreath
In case you missed a step or two, here are the instructions for the wreath. You can also print out the instructions with the tutorial card at the end of this post.
Step 1
Take your sign and glue the zip tie mounts to each corner on the back on the back. You only need a little bit.
Wait for the glue to dry completely before moving onto the next step.
Step 2
Fluff out and prepare your wreath form.
Step 3
Make 8″ poufs with your mesh between each wreath tie on the top of your wreath form. Then, make 10″ poufs around the bottom.
Step 4
Using the bottom twist ties, use the deco mesh and fill in the middle to give a fuller look, skipping every other bottom twist tie.
Step 5
Prepare your wreath sign by adding pipe cleaners to each of the mounts.
Step 6
Attach the sign to the right side of your wreath, using the pipe cleaners to tie around the metal frame.
Step 7
Get out your ribbon tail board, 2.5″ ribbon, and 1.5″ ribbon.
Cut 2.5″ ribbon into (36) 14″ strips. Then grab and cut 1.5″ ribbon into (36) 14″ strips.
Make sure to cut the ends of each ribbon into dovetails.
Step 8
Layer (2) 1.5″ ribbon strips on top of (1) 2.5″ ribbon strip, fold in half, scrunch in middle, and add to the wreath ties.
Step 9
Fan out the ribbon tails and make sure it all points out to make the wreath look bigger.
Step 10
Repeat the previous 2 steps until you add ribbon tails to each wreath tie on the bottom and then the top ties.
Step 11
Get a 2.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 26-inches long. Then, get another 2.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 25-inches long. After you’ve done those two, get 1.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 24-inches long.
Make sure to cut the ends of the ribbons into dovetails.
Step 12
Take the 25-inch long ribbon, fold in half, fold in half again, give it a little pinch, and add to wreath tie.
Step 13
Fold the 26-inch long ribbon in half, then fold in half again. Give it a little pinch and add it to the same wreath tie facing opposite of the previous ribbon.
Step 14
Fold the 24-inch long ribbon in half and then fold it in half again. Pinch it and add it to the same wreath tie facing opposite of the previous ribbon.
Step 15
Repeat last 3 steps to make your fake bow 3 more times.
Step 16
Get one of the 2.5″ ribbons, cut (2) 25-inches long, trim ends into dovetails, and make single loop bows and add to wreath.
Step 17
Get your 1.5″ ribbons, cut one 14-inch long, trim ends into dovetails, and add ribbon tail to the wreath.
Step 18
Curl in all wreath ties and you’re done!

How to Make a Red, White, and Blue Wreath
Materials
Instructions
- Take your sign and on the back use the rapid fuse glue and add the zip tie mounts to each corner. Wait for glue to be completely dry. You don't need much to keep the mounts in place. A little goes a long way.
- Fluff out wreath form
- Take your mesh and make 8" poofs between each wreath tie on the top of your wreath form and 10" poofs around the bottom.
- Using the bottom twist ties, use the deco mesh and fill in the middle to give a fuller look, skipping every other bottom twist tie.
- Take wreath sign and add pipe cleaners to each of the mounts. Tie nice and tight.
- Add the sign to the right side of your wreath. Use pipe cleaners to wrap and tie around metal frame.
- Get out your ribbon tail board, 2.5" ribbon, and 1.5" ribbon.
- Cut 2.5" ribbon into (36) 14" strips.
- Cut ends into dovetails.
- Cut 1.5" ribbon into (36) 14" strips.
- Cut ends into dovetails.

- Get another 2.5" ribbon and cut (4) 25-inches long. Cut ends into dovetails.
- Get 1.5" ribbon and cut (4) 24-inches long. Cut ends into dovetails.

- Take the 26-inch long ribbon, fold in half, fold in half again, give it a little pinch, and add to the same wreath tie facing opposite of previous ribbon.

- Repeat last 3 steps to make your fake bow 3 more times.
- Get one of the 2.5" ribbons, cut (2) 25-inches long, trim ends into dovetails, and make single loop bows and add to wreath.
- Get your 1.5" ribbons, cut (1)14-inches long, trim ends into dovetails, and add ribbon tail to wreath.
- Curl in all wreath ties.
