Learn how to make an adorable mesh wreath using this cute sloth sign. This colorful wreath will make people smile, thanks to its cheeky sign, and will look great on any front door!

Hey, y’all! Today, I’m showing you how to make a deco mesh sloth sign wreath.

I recently wrapped up a busy Saturday evening and wanted to wind down by making a wreath. So, I jumped on Facebook LIVE to make this super cute sloth wreath. The inspiration for the design comes from my cheeky “Don’t Hurry, Be Happy” sloth sign!

As I was pulling supplies together, I was at a loss about what colors to use with this sign. So, I pulled out my trusty color wheel and grabbed some greens, purples, and browns to highlight some of the sign’s fun (but muted) colors.

How to Make a Cheeky Sloth Wreath

Sloth Sign Wreath Supplies Needed

Here’s everything you need to make this fun and cheeky wreath and with adorable sloth sign!

How To Make This “Don’t Hurry, Be Happy” Sloth Wreath

Follow these steps to make your own cute sloth wreath!

Step 1

Prep the sign to attach to the wreath. Add four dabs of super glue to the back of your metal sign, one in each of the four “corners” of the sign. Once the superglue is dry, add a thin line of hot glue around each of the mounting squares and let it dry.

After it dries, add pipe cleaners to the mounting squares.

Step 2

Take your first 20-inch strip of mesh and make a ruffle by curling the edges under then scrunching it in the middle. Attach it with one of the ties on the outside of the wreath frame.

Repeat the same process moving around the frame. I alternated solid and striped mesh!

Step 3

Now, move to the inside row of twists on your wreath base and continue adding a single ruffle to each twist.

Step 4

Add another ruffle to each twist on the wreath base, but this time, turn the ruffles “upside down” so that the curls are up.

Step 5

Time to make our bow!

Take your EZ Bow Maker and the 4” ribbon and make 12” tails with (2) 8” loop in an “X” shape.

Step 6

Grab the first 2.5” ribbon and make 12” tails with slightly smaller loops. Next, grab your second 2.5” ribbon and make your tails and 7” loops. Repeat the process one more time with the third 2.5” ribbon, making your loops slightly smaller.

Step 7

Take your first 1.5” ribbon and make 12” tails with 6” loops in the same “X” shape, offsetting the ribbon just below this one. Repeat the process with your second 1.5” ribbon, making the loops slightly smaller. And, grab your third 1.5” ribbon and make the same 12” tails with 5” loops this time.

Step 8

Take your final 1.5” ribbon and make 12” tails with one center loop about 4.5”.

Step 9

Take your 20” pipe cleaner, fold it in half and wrap it around the center of your bow as you carefully pull your bow off the EZ Bow Maker. Give your bow a good twist to secure it.

Step 10

Using the pipe cleaners on your sign, attach the sign to the right side of your wreath.

Step 11

Now add the bow to the top left part of your wreath.

Step 12

Trim all the bow tails in a dovetail shape.

Step 13

Now, we’re adding tails. Take your tailboard and cut (8) 14” strips each of 4 different ribbons used in your bows. Once your tails are cut, dovetail the ends.

Step 14

Match the ribbons into two different pairs. Take each tail pair, pinch it in the middle, fold it back, and add it to a twist tie around the base.

Continue this process around the base of the wreath, alternating color patterns each time.

Step 15

You’ll have 6 pairs of tails left over. Add those to the wreath around the sign where you see empty space.

Step 16

Cut your orange floral into 2 pieces. Insert one sprig to the right of your bow and the other just above the sign. Add a dab of hot glue to each sprig to secure it. Repeat the same process with your purple florals.

Step 17

Repeat the same process with your orange and purple florals, adding them to the left, top, and bottom sides of your bow to add more depth and volume.

Step 18

Take your greenery sprays and cut them apart. Add sprigs of greenery into your wreath throughout the design.

Step 19

Fluff out your bow and your florals, and you’re done!
