Hey, y’all! Once the temperatures start warming up and the days get longer, I start looking for the magnolia blooms to appear. Those distinctive and gorgeous white blooms let me know that long summer days are just around the corner.

Today, Coach Jordan is showing us how to use a Home Sweet Home sign with magnolia blooms and use it as inspiration to create a wreath you’ll want on your front door all summer long.

How to Make a Home Sweet Home Wreath with Magnolias!

How To Make A Home Sweet Home Wreath With Deco Mesh

True to Coach Jordan’s signature style, this design is a stunning simple wreath that’s perfect to hang on any front door. Plus, it comes together quickly and will sell out of your online store inventory!

Supplies Needed

15” Wire wreath frame
(10) 30” Strips of 10” deco mesh
(8) 18” Strips of 10” deco mesh
21″ Jute mesh
Home Sweet Home sign
2 Bunches of magnolia florals
(2) 2.5” Ribbons
(3) 1.5” Ribbons
(1) 4” Ribbon
1” Mounting squares
Pipe cleaners
Rotary cutter
Scissors
Ribbon tail board

Instructions

Follow along as I guide you through the process step-by-step of making this beautiful spring deco mesh wreath!

Step 1

Begin by cutting 13” ribbon tails. We’re cutting 9 tails in each of the four ribbon colors. Dovetail the ends then create sets of ribbon tail pairs. Each pair should contain a 1.5” ribbon tail on top of a 2.5” ribbon tail.

Step 2

Next, cut all your strips of mesh. I recommend cutting all your 30” strips and then your 18” strips.

Step 3

Take your 21” jute mesh and curl the sides in a little then scrunch the sides into the middle. Tie the mesh (about 2 inches from the end) into a pipe cleaner on the outside of your wreath frame.

Measure out 10”, make a pouf, and tie the mesh into the next pipe cleaner as you make your way around the outside of the frame. Continue this process all around the outside of the wreath and again around the inside of the frame to create a base for your design.

Step 4

Take your 30” strips of deco mesh and begin making ruffles, one at a time, with each strip.

Curl the ends in toward each other, then squeeze the middle together to create a ruffle.

Attach your ruffle to the wreath base using the same pipe cleaners you used for the poufs. Repeat this step for all of your 30” strips of deco mesh, alternating colors, and attach each one to your wreath in a different pipe cleaner as you make your way around the outside of the frame.

Step 5

Repeat the same process with the 18” strips of mesh and attach them with the pipe cleaners around the inside of your frame.

Step 6

Take a pair of ribbon tails and pinch it in the middle, then insert the pinched portion into one of the pipe cleaners on the outside of the wreath frame and twist the pipe cleaner around the ribbon tail pair to secure it in place.

Alternate color pairs as you make your way around the wreath.

Step 7

If you haven’t done so already, prepare your sign. Peel off the back of 2 mounting squares, add a dab of super glue and press each square onto the back of the sign (one on each side/end).

Insert a pipe cleaner into each mounting square. Then use those pipe cleaners to attach the foam bunny sign to the wreath.

Step 8

Now it’s time to make a 6-layer half-bow.

Take your first 1.5” ribbon and make a 6” tail, a single 4” loop, and a 12” tail that cascades down. Repeat the same basic process with each of the six ribbons, keeping the tails the same measurements, but making each loop slightly bigger.

Once you’ve made all 6 layers, wrap a pipe cleaner around the middle, just below the loops, and twist it tightly to secure your half-bow in place.

Attach the half-bow to the wreath just below the Home Sweet Home sign using the same pipe cleaner.

Step 9

Grab your magnolia floral stems and begin adding them to your wreath design. You’ll add one just to the left side of the bow and one on the upper part of the wreath. Secure the stems in place with a pipe cleaner.

Step 10

Make another half-bow following the same process you used earlier for the first half-bow.

This one will only use the first 5 ribbons (it will not include the 4” ribbon) and the tails and loops will be slightly smaller because this bow is an overall smaller bow.

Wrap a pipe cleaner around it and twist it tightly to secure to bow. Then attach it to the upper left part of the wreath design with the pipe cleaner.

Step 11

The only thing that’s left is to finish your wreath by dovetailing the ribbon tails on the bows. Fluff everything out and your wreath is done!
