I needed to find a way to turn them into signs so that they would be sturdy enough to be used in wreath designs. After some brainstorming and problem-solving, I finally came up with a great way to do it!

Today, I’m sharing how to make your own DIY wreath sign from a vinyl sticker!

Instructions

The great part about this technique is that you can use it to create unique signs that make an amazing addition to your wreaths! Here’s your step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Step 1

Take your wood cutout and make sure it’s clean and free of debris (anything left on there will show through your sticker). Set it down (out of the way) on your workspace.

Step 2

Take your vinyl decal and carefully remove the paper backing. Lay your decal down with the image on your workspace and the sticky side up.

Step 3

Carefully line up your wood cutout to your decal and center it the best that you can. Place it on top of your decal with your plank centered and press down firmly.

Flip your plank over and use your fingers to smooth your decal image out across your plank.

Step 4

NOTE: Even though the circle decals and circle planks are labeled as being 10”, they are almost never the same size. The planks are often a little smaller, and sometimes not true circle shape. This step gets your vinyl decal to match the size and shape of your circle plank exactly so that it looks like a true sign.

Flip your new sign back over. From the back, use your Xacto knife to trim the overhanging vinyl edge so that it’s the same size as the circle plank.

Step 5

This is optional!

If you want to seal your sign, go over the back and sides with Mod Podge. You don’t need to seal the decal side of your plank since the vinyl seals it up already.

Step 6

Attach mounting squares as needed to the back of your plank. Insert one pipe cleaner into each mounting square you attach.

Now your DIY wreath sign is ready to attach to your wreath!
