I think it’s a requirement. 😉

Well, I already offer a few different Mardi Gras designs you can check out. And today, I’m offering a way to expand the versatility of those designs with a new bow design that you could add to any of them.

How to Make a Mardi Gras Bow using EZ Bow Maker

Bows are an easy and effective way to complete (or change) your wreath designs. Because a bow is so eye-catching, simply changing out that one element can create a wreath that looks brand new.

The other reason I’m only making a bow is that they’re selling like hotcakes on Etsy, y’all! Just the bows!

Behold, the power of the bow!

Now, let’s go learn how to make a Mardi Gras bow with your EZ Bow Maker!

Supplies Needed To Make This Mardi Gras Bow

Here’s what you’ll need to make a Mardi Gras that will get noticed.

How To Make A Mardi Gras Bow With Your EZ Bow Maker

Follow the steps in this tutorial and you’ll have it completed quickly!

Step 1

Grab your EZ Bow Maker and ribbons of choice.

Step 2

Take your 4” ribbon and measure out 8-inch tails with (2) 7” loops. Form this layer in an “X” shape so that it either has a tail or a loop point towards a corner.

Step 3

Next, take your first 2.5” ribbon and repeat the basic process. The tails will be 8 inches, but the loops will be slightly smaller at 6.5 inches each. This layer will also be in a basic “X” shape, but turn it so that the tails of this layer rest on the loops of the previous layer.

Step 4

Next, take your second 2.5” ribbon and repeat the process again. Make 8-inch tails with 6-inch loops. This layer will also be in a basic “X” shape, but turn it so that the tails of this layer rest on the loops of the previous layer.

Step 5

For your 4th layer, grab your first 1.5” ribbon and make another “X” shape with 8-inch tails and 5.5” loops. Make sure to offset this layer from the previous layer.

Step 6

Now, take your second 1.5” ribbon and create one more offset layer for your bow. This time the tails will be the same and the loops will be slightly smaller at 5 inches.

Step 7

Next, take your last 1.5” ribbon and create two 8” tails with two slightly smaller loops.

Step 8

Finally, take one of your other contrasting 1.5″ ribbons and create two 8″ tails with one center loop.

Step 9

This bow has several layers and is pretty thick. Join together 2 pipe cleaners end to end (to create an extra-long single pipe cleaner) so that you can secure the bow AND attach it to a wreath.

Step 10

Wrap your extra-long pipe cleaner around the center of your bow as you gently pull it off of the EZ Bow Maker.

Twist your pipe cleaner closed at the back of the bow, then give the entire bow a couple of good twists to make the pipe cleaner tight.

Mardi Graw Bow Final Touches

Fluff out your bow, dovetail the ends, and attach your bow to your wreath!

And that, friends, is how you make a stunning Mardi Gras bow in just minutes.

Pro Tip: You can change up the ribbon colors and designs and use the same bow-making technique to create quick and interesting bows for any project or holiday.

How To Make A Mardi Gras Bow: Final Thoughts

Bows are a reliable way to add great visual appeal to any wreath or centerpiece project. In fact, sometimes it’s the bow that sells the entire design! But there’s no need to make them complicated, and that’s why I love this bow.
