Step-by-step Patriotic Home Decor Tutorial

The patriotic spirit isn’t just about flying flags; it’s about infusing your space with the pride and joy of your country. Whether it’s for the 4th of July, a welcoming summer BBQ, or to pay tribute year-round, a handcrafted grapevine wreath adorned in red, white, and blue is the perfect addition to your home decor.

Today, I’m excited to share a simple yet stunning DIY patriotic wreath tutorial from Coach Meghan that captures the essence of celebration and remembrance.

Creating Your Wreath Base:

  1. Begin with your 14” round grapevine wreath as the foundation of your project.
  2. Take a piece of affordable greenery and carefully split it to create a swag shape that will drape beautifully across your wreath.
  3. Fluff a red berry spray to give it volume and nestle it into your greenery for a burst of vibrant color.
  4. Introduce a touch of serene blue with a fluffed flower stem and arrange it within the red berry spray to create a harmonious blend.
  5. With a zip tie, secure this colorful bundle together tightly.
  6. Attach your floral masterpiece to the inner left side of the grapevine, fixing it in place with another zip tie for a secure hold.

Bow-tying Brilliance:

  1. Select a 1.5” patriotic ribbon and fashion a five-loop bow with long, flowing tails to give a sense of movement and elegance to your wreath.
  2. A pipe cleaner will serve as your fastening agent, keeping your bow structured and in place.
  3. Once your bow is made, fluff it out to display its full glory.
  4. Situate your bow at the heart of the flower bundle, using the pipe cleaner to affix it firmly.
  5. Give the greenery some attention by fluffing it around the bow, allowing it to peek through and frame your bow perfectly.
  6. For a finished, professional look, dovetail the ends of your ribbon tails.

Floral Finishes:

  1. Now, it’s time to introduce the elegance of cream roses into your design. Using hot glue, secure these blooms within your flower bundle. The cream color adds a soft contrast that complements the bold patriotic colors.

And there you have it! A beautiful, handcrafted patriotic grapevine wreath that’s ready to display. This wreath is not only a symbol of your creativity but also a representation of the love for your country. Hang it on your front door, over your mantle, or gift it to a friend to spread the patriotic cheer.

Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a first-time DIYer, this project is a fun and fulfilling way to express your patriotism. I encourage you to take pride in each step of the process, and don’t forget to share your final creation with us!
